There were two possible services today that this HST set with the VTEC buffet car could have gone for, either the Lincoln Christmas Market shuttle services or the Nottingham/London St Pancras services. Today saw this set allocated to the Nottingham/London St Pancras services with the VTEC buffet car in it as a backup as 40730, the dedicated buffet for this particular set, is currently in a different set while 40728 is away for maintenance/refurbishment. 40751 is seen here in East Midlands Trains formation, the set itself waiting in between services, the next being the 13:32 service to London St Pancras. This former East Midlands Trains buffet car is now a spare one and can either be found on the former East Midlands Trains set (now VTEC) EC64 or on an East Midlands Trains HST set, as here illustrates. VTEC buffet car 40805 was initially the spare buffet car before moving to set EC64, in effect replacing this buffet car as the dedicated one for the set.
