Nottingham Station (02.10.2019)

Here is a selection of shots from my visit to Nottingham Station on 02.10.2019, where services are seen by East Midlands Railway, Cross Country, Northern, Nottingham Express Transit and freight from DB Cargo UK and DC Railfreight, also including the RHTT. There's more to add to that though as Nottingham Eastcroft features heavily as well, where the companies that feature there are East Midlands Railway and Colas Railfreight.

Overall, a good visit to Nottingham Station, seeing various freight as well as the RHTT. Three class 60's, two on tanks, one with loaded oil and one with empty oil, one on empty steel, a top and tail 66 on the RHTT and of course, we can't forget the double headed 56's from DC Railfreight with theit freight working. A rather pleasant sight to see in the end! It was also nice to see Colas Railfreight in Eastcroft Depot as well as East Midlands Railway there with one or two sprinters. It was with the movements on the track though for East Midlands Railway that really got me talking with lots of 153's, 156's, 158's, 222's and HST's and even a double 153 pairing on the Mansfield Woodhouse/Worksop services as well as a couple of 158's. Not only that but even some 156's on the Liverpool services turned up along with some singular workings to from Liverpool Lime Street, also including former South West Trains unit 158889. The mixture of liveries was nice from the sprinters to the 222's and the HST's and even 153372, formerly of Great Western Railway, turned up whilst paired with another classmate on the Newark Castle/Matlock services. Not only that, but 156413 in plain blue made an appearance on the Mansfield Woodhouse/Worksop services. I suppose I should add that, including 156413, a lot of sprinters were seen in both the refurbished and unrefurbished states, so the variety with the stock there didn't disappoint in the end. As for Northern, the variety wasn't too bad either, with old livery 158's featuring, one with Metro vinyls, and all that along with two former ScotRail 158's in 158786 in the ScotRail livery and 158869 in the new Northern livery. It wasn't all 158's in the end though as former London Midland and West Midlands Railway 150105 also turned up in former London Midland colours, so something different was to be seen as well. Nothing different was to be seen from Cross Country in the end apart from the 170's but the whole family did feature, consisting of 170/1's in both two and three car formations, a 170/3 in 170397 in three car formation, 170/5's in three car formation and a 170/6 in 170636 in three car formation. Not only that but there was a 170/1 and 170/5 combo as well in there, so four coaches but from different variations of Turbostar there in the end. As for the trams, it was nice to see a nice mix of Bombardier Incentro Trams and Alstom Citadis Trams and even some refurbished Incentros as well as some of the older liveried trams and the allover advertising trams and the allover trams being from the likes of the flourescent yellow big event tram, the Deliveroo tram and the multicoloured Just East Tram. A huge selection I guess and I suppose this is a station I could spend all day at to be honest as it can also be full of surprises as well as variety.... well 222104 in the new East Midlands Railway didn't feature in the end but what can you do eh!? Overall, a good visit and a highly recommended station, especially if you like your trams and freight!
