As the 222's are not expected to be replaced by bi-modes until 2022, East Midlands Railway decided to apply the interim East Midlands Railway livery to one of their 222's, as illustrated. 222101 is seen in its old East Midlands Trains blue and white colours but with its new purple and grey colours as it pairs up with East Midlands Trains liveried 222013, the nine car set pictured arriving into Nottingham from London Sr Pancras before heading on an ECS to Etches Park Sidings in Derby in reverse formation after waiting time.
