The main spare was to be Optare Solo SR 342 on the 7, while Optare Solo SR 353 took over from Bridgford Bus branded variant 358 on the 5, making it a part time spare. 342 and 353 are both seen on Arkwright Street heading to/from Gamston on the 5 and 7 respectively.
