East Midlands Trains 43480/43423 'Valenta' (20.08.2018)

Well then, today sparked the return of the former six car HST sets at Nottingham Station as I think for one week only, the class 222's were on proceedings during the weekday on services usually operated by these sets... well on one occasion, one class 222 switched to the fast service from the slow service for the London routes after an HST set was declared a failure. No failure here though as both power cars were running smoothly, no problems, hence why it just got on with the job of doing the London St Pancras-Nottingham service before actually heading into Eastcroft Depot, presumably for a rest ahead of an evening express Nottingham-London St Pancras working. Looks like this HST set was put to good use at last! 43480 and 43423 are seen in these shots along with the HST set itself, all as seen at Nottingham Station. This set was in use with Grand Central but moved to East Midlands Trains after Grand Central's decision to only use class 180's on their service, hence some more 180's transferring from Great Western Railway, also meaning the part celebrity livery on 180104, which was unveiled in September 2017 at the Old Oak Common open day, had to be removed. A bit of a shame there really but at least HST 43093 still has its celebrity livery!
