East Midlands Trains 43046/43043 (22.10.2018)
Now then, 40751, a London North Eastern Railway buffet car in Virgin Trains East Coast livery, had been on this East Midlands Trains HST set before the branded buffet car of 40756 and presumably 40751 itself had most likely swapped sets (I think) but there was to be good news from a branded buffet car normally used on this set as 40730 from it was available for selection after having been out of action for a bit to have its bogies cleaned up and I will say they look good. Perhaps it's not all been good news though as, not only was this service delayed for its Nottingham journey from London St Pancras by overrunning enginerring works and possibly an issue before leaving from Nottingham Station back out to the capital, this HST set was reduced to seven cars from the usual eight as, while 41063, a first class spare coach was running as coach H in this one, there were no other suitable spare coaches available to cover for 42111 in this set as the spare standard class coach of 42384 and the spare first class coach of 41113 were taken up in other East Midlands Trains HST sets, so there was to be no coach D here today. 43046 is seen arriving at Nottingham Station with a late terminating service from London St Pancras before leaving back out to the capital after a delay somewhat before departure. Some eight car sets were possible this afternoon at Nottingham Station but a six car HST set from Grand Central wasn't as an arriving service from the capital was cancelled out as a result of those overrunning works, which I think would have probably meant a straight run to Derby Etches Park on empty coaching stock for what would have been today's selected six car HST set of some description.
